Car Features 10 Commonly Repossessed Vehicles 2015 Edition

Last year, we had published a list of vehicles that are commonly repossessed by banks. For this year, let us see the top 10 repossessed vehicles (last time was 12 due to a tie) overall with a top five per bank. This list also aims to help buyers on which bank to go in finding a specific vehicle they want. With automotive sales on the rise plus the fad of Uber/GrabCar services, there would come a time people would default on their monthly payments.

Do take note the list is accurate as of October 2, 2015. Sources include: PS Bank, Banco De Oro, RCBC Savings Bank, East West Bank, Unionbank, Sterling Bank of Asia, Maybank, and BPI.

For this year, a tie happened and no more Mazdas in the top. Mitsubishi had dominated the list with three vehicles while Ford and Hyundai have two vehicles each. We had no idea on how numerous Montero Sports and Lancers had ended up in Banco De Oros repossessed lots and the Rio is still the leader. We have one culprit here: all in low downpayment promos thrown in by dealers to entice buyers (small cars such as the Eon and Vios attracts first time owners).

Airside Citroen host fashion extravaganza

Over 140 people attended Airside Citroen’s fashion event in their showroom on Friday last to coincide with the Citroen Open Week from 6-12 November 2017, writes Trish Whelan.

Attendees were treated to a night of fashion and fun with a catwalk fashion show hosted by Citroen Ambassador, Shirley Lane, featuring all the latest clothing trends from the Blanchardstown Shopping Centre.

Guests also had the opportunity to check out the New Citroen C3 Aircross compact SUV.

Airside Citroen is owned and managed by Avanacar Ltd, a subsidiary of Brightstone Trading Ltd. The dealership is managed by Dealer Principal and Director, Damien Smyth.

On the fashion event, Damien commented “We were delighted to host this special event to help raise funds for two local groups, Loreto College Swords and Robyn’s Life Trust. Being an active member of our local community is very important to us at Airside Citroen so we were thrilled so many people from the local area turned out to support the event.”

Some €2,000 was raised through ticket sales from the event to be split between these two local groups.

Car Features 12 Commonly Repossessed Vehicles

With the new car market expected to boom in the coming years, theres no escaping of other people who will default on their monthly payments on buying their car. So here is the top 10 vehicles that are commonly repossessed by major banks who primarily offer auto loans.

Do take note the list is accurate as of October 2014. Sources include PS Bank, Banco De Oro, UCPB, RCBC Savings Bank, EastWest Bank, Union Bank, Sterling Bank of Asia, Maybank, and BPI

1. Kia Rio

2. Ford Fiesta

3. Hyundai Accent

4. Mitsubishi Adventure

5. Ford Escape

6. Nissan Urvan

7. Nissan Sentra

8. Toyota Vios

9. Hyundai Eon

10. Ford Everest

11. Toyota Innova

12. Mazda 3

Based from the vehicles above, Ford dominated with three vehicles but do take note that the Escapes we found are mostly 2012 and 2013 models, Everests which are mostly the 2009-2013 models but some post facelift ones are being sold, and Fiestas that are the pre-facelift especially good deals are to be found here. Hyundai had two cars each, same with Nissan and Toyota and one for Mitsubishi and Kia. Most of the vehicles are cheap to buy due to low down promotions thrown by dealers, which is the main cause of these vehicles being commonplace on the repo lot.

Here are the other runner ups w hich can be seen in this PDF file.

Hang back a bit in colder weather

Now that the temperatures are regularly dropping below the 7degC mark, its time to adjust driving style, writes Brian Byrne.

Thats the datum line for when lower temperatures mean less grip from your tyres, because the compound theyre made from gets harder.

And most drivers in Ireland dont use winter tyres, which compensate for this as well as dealing with other technical characteristics to cope better with the season. Tyre for tyre, the difference can mean a 5m shorter stopping time from 100km/h on a wet road, if you have winter tyres.

So take it a bit slower and leave yourself more distance from the vehicle in front. Even if the road ahead look s dry, or ice-free.

And at the risk of further repetition, get out and check your tyres regularly, especially these winter days.

Tread depth â€" at minimum 1.6mm and arguably twice that â€" along with inspection for cuts, crack and bulges, and for stuff caught in the treads and sipes. Pressures check at least every couple of weeks.

And, again, hang back a bit.
